Rental Property Management Glossary – Can a landlord increase the rent?
Yes, landlord may increase rent during a tenancy, as long as the timing, amount, requisite form and notice period are followed the RTA (Residential Tenancy Act) and Regulations.
Rent can be increased no sooner than 12 months after the rent was initially established or increased
A rent increase is limited to the maximum annual allowable amount. For residential tenancies, the standard allowable rent increase for 2020 is 2.6%.
